As a driver out of Chicago’s O’Hare Airport, Dharon Golden helps ensure that flights for a number of major airlines are stocked with food and beverages for passengers so that they take off on time. He will work up to 60, even 80 hours per week if he can in order earn enough to support his family. He does it all for his 3-year-old daughter, and his son on the way, due at the end of February. Dharon is FED UP with high healthcare costs and low wages, and having bills pile up quickly when workers like him and his Chicago colleagues are out injured or sick for one day.

“The health coverage that my job provides is frightening. I can’t afford to get sick. I can’t afford my 3-year-old daughter to get sick. When she was born, I knew that I was going to have to sacrifice either providing for her or missing her first steps, or first words. Now, I have a son on the way, and have to worry about how I am going to afford medical bills for him, too. The company needs to understand our living conditions, and our struggle to survive.”
